If your family is one that has to shop on a budget like we do, I just want to let you know that you don’t have to cut out certain products or services all together and do without them! There could be comparable and affordable alternatives for you out there that you should check out, so you may not have to give it up completely. Here is a list of items that I have found that keep us within our spending budget, but still enable us to get the healthy benefits that we seek.
Can’t afford acupuncture? Try acupressure.
Because there’s no one locally in my area that does acupuncture, and also because it can be expensive, especially if done regularly, I think it’s fair to say that acupuncture isn’t a very accessible service for me. Since I can’t regularly get acupuncture, I decided to try an acupressure mat, which still carries several benefits. Thousands of acupressure points stimulate nerves and improve blood circulation for increased energy and faster muscle recovery, making it great for users who sit at a desk daily, as well as active individuals and athletes. It naturally reduces muscle tension, back pain, and headaches by simply laying on the mat daily for 10-30 minutes. Acupressure releases endorphins that block pain, and helps relax the muscles in your back, neck and feet. I try to lay on my mat before bed each night for at least 15 minutes, and find it very relaxing. It is an affordable, one time cost at approximately $20. Buy it here.
There are a few different brands of oils that I would recommend, but my primary and current brand of essential oils I use is Revive. I made the switch to this brand when I could no longer afford to buy from the brand I had used for years. These ring in at about half the price of other big brands. I wanted to save money, but I did not want to sacrifice quality. I have been very pleased with these oils. You can buy here (promo code will appear at top of page), and save $10 on your order. These oils are wildcrafted and organic, as well as 3rd party tested for purity–and the results for each oil can be viewed on their website. If I can stress one thing it is to INVEST IN QUALITY ESSENTIAL OILS! The higher quality, the less it takes, and the better the results are. Not to mention, being able to apply oils topically and ingest them (opposed to only being able to diffuse them) is a big game changer. Ask yourself, “If it’s not safe to ingest, then is it really safe to put on my body, where it will be absorbed into my bloodstream within seconds?”
Want an affordable, clean-ingredient, superfood meal shake?
With a subscription, and after taking into account shipping, these shakes come out to about $2 each. They have been the tastiest and most affordable meal replacement shakes I have come across. I prefer the taste, texture, and price compared to other popular brands I’ve used in the past. They contain 40ish clean ingredients and are extremely healthy with only 90 calories per serving, with no sugar or artificial sweeteners, top-quality plant-based proteins, and a multitude of vitamins, minerals, organic superfoods and probiotics in each shake! Vanilla and Toasted coconut are my favorite flavors. Autoship is not required, but if you do sign up it reduces the 1 month supply bag from $68 to $51. (Mine is set up to ship every 60-90 days). You can try a sampler kit for only $9 to test it out here.

They have a brand new ORGANIC formula that just came out as well. I just placed my sample order to try it out! I believe the $9 sample kit is available only in the new organic formula right now, but you can buy the shakes in either a 14 day supply or 28 day supply in either the original or new organic formula. This company also sells other items besides shakes, such as keto products, supplements, lemonades, and more.
UPDATE– I love the new organic formula even more, so that is what I drink now. My favorite flavors in the organic formula are chocolate and salted caramel. (Funnily, those flavors were not ones I cared for in the original formula.) The organic formula has an incredibly smooth texture. The powder itself is so light and soft– it reminds me of powdered sugar.
Tired of spending so much money on bulky, heavy cases of plastic bottled water?
This under sink unit was recommended to me by my doctor because it is the one he uses in his home. We also purchased the small upgrade for the larger tank and to run an additonal line to our refrigerator. This means that the cold water on our kitchen sink as well as the water and ice that comes from the fridge is clean. It removes metals, chemicals, parasites, viruses and bacteria such as fluoride, chlorine, copper, chromium, lead, arsenic, radium, pharmaceuticals, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli, Enteric, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Rotavirus, and more. I love that I don’t have to buy plastic bottles, which are wasteful, harmful to the environment, plus the plastic seeps into the water and causes health issue. I also like that I can easily have clean ice and water to cook with. It’s great, environmentally speaking too, and we are happy to not have to drag in giant cases of water every week as well. Our water and ice tastes great! You can buy the RO system here.
Would you love to do a meal delivery service, but they all cost too freakin’ much?here, which if you use it saves you $20 off your first box (so depending on how many servings you add to your box, this would make it $1.66-$2.99 per plate for your first order!) and gives us $20 account credit to put toward our meal boxes as well.
I truly recommend them to everyone as our experience has been great and we plan to stick to this meal service for the foreseeable future. I think it’s one of the most affordable meal services out there and if you are looking for convenience and a way to cook and eat healthier, fresh meals from scratch, this could be for you.
I hope sharing my list helps someone out there who is currently doing without the things they wish they could have see that they may in fact be able to afford healthy lifestyle items. They fit within our budget and meet my standards, and they may be good options for you too. 🙂
